Dissident Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez spoke to newspaper publishers from the Western Hemisphere about freedom of the press.  Yesterday in Puebla, Mexico speaking of freedom of the press in Castro’s Cuba she said, “the situation of press freedom in my country is calamitous.”

Because of the ubiquitous USB flash drives underground blogs, e-zines and other new technologies.  Information is placed on a USB flash drive, or similar media, and passed around from person to person.  Cheap and inexpensive.  Not exactly mass media information, but, the information works its way around.  The only person at risk is the person holding the disk.

It is because of the electronic age that we live in that the iron walls of tyranny began to rust and fall away.  The old Soviet Empire held absolute control over dissemination of information.  The evil empire was in a time of typesetting, typewriters and handwritten letters.  The typewriter was the first chink in the armor of the empire.  Someone realized that it could be used to disseminate information of hope, freedom and change.

Thus the “sasmizdat” was born.  It was a simple system.  Someone’s message would be typed on a typewriter.  There would also be five to ten carbon copies produced.  The number that could be legibly produced depended on many variables with each individual typewriter.  When you received a “samizdat,” if you had access to a typewriter you were expected to type and distribute your copies.  You can see how quickly information could be disseminated.

The “samizdats” were quite the thorn in the side of the communists.  They zealously pursued the writers and those who passed on the information.  Because each typewriter always had some identifiable characteristic it did not take the KGB long to eventually make someone pay.  Ideally you used your secret typewriter that no one knew of to pass on information.

The age of electronics was the end of communist tyranny.  The communists had been for too long like the little boy using a finger to plug a hole in the dike.  Now with computers, printers and copy machines it was like thousands, if not tens of thousands of holes started appearing and the communists simply did not have enough boys.  What were the communists to do they needed the new technology to continue to repress the masses, but the masses were turning the new technologies back at the communists.  The new technologies were difficult trace and almost impossible to suppress.

I suspect that the full effect of new technologies have been very slow to arrive in Cuba.  They will eventually become as menacing to communist Cuba as they were to communist Russia and remain menacing to the newest tyrannical Russian Czar Vladimir Putin.

We are certainly the beneficiaries of the new technology to disseminate information.  I and thousands of others have our blogs.  What if we had to depend on the American lame stream media to keep us informed?  As long as we have our computers, printers, internet and all the other trappings of the Electronic Era there will never be a dark ages of information.

The Conundrum of the Day

The reality challenged amongst us are forever trying to cram reality into the boundaries of their narratives.  This article in the Washington Post by Krissah Thompson reports on the Michelle Obama rant “Fat butt Michelle Obama,” by Bob Grisham, an Alabama high school football coach throwing white men in her unsavory mix.

The problem with “fat butt rants” is that “white people” historically have not had, well she quotes another author read below,

“We have a history in this country of white people not showing adequate respect for and devaluing the bodies of black women, and this most definitely falls in line with that,” says Ayana Byrd, the co-editor of the anthology “Naked: Black Women Bare All About Their Skin, Hair, Hips, Lips and Other Parts.” (Grisham, Limbaugh and Sensenbrenner are white men.)

The focus on this first lady’s posterior has historical antecedents. It reaches back to the imagery of Hottentot Venus, a woman from what is now South Africa whose naked body and pronounced posterior were paraded in shows throughout 19th-century Europe. On to the selling and trading of black women’s bodies through slavery. In modern times, black women’s figures continue to be up for public discussion in ways that are celebratory (see: “Brick House” by The Commodores) and insulting (see above).

These women suggest that white people have a long history of “disrespecting the bodies of black women.”  Dare I suggest that education could be the answer?  Who better to educate white men how to respect black women’s bodies than black men?

We could consider employing an educator like Sir Mix-A-Lot who penned the classic rap hit “I Like Big Butts?”  Could he assist insensitive white louts overcome centuries of exploitive behavior towards black women?

Oh my god
Becky, look at her butti-like-big-butts-big-butts-demotivational-poster-1277987611
Its so big
She looks like one of those rap guys girlfriends
Who understands those rap guys
They only talk to her because she looks like a total prostitute
I mean her butt
It’s just so big
I can’t believe it’s so round
It’s just out there
I mean, it’s gross
Look, she’s just so black

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can’t deny

And, there you have it, the conundrum.  If the admiration, or disrespect, of a woman’s posterior is loutish behavior, are we really going to resolve “the problem” by having loutish blacks reeducating loutish whites?

I might suggest a simpler answer.  Some people need to stop showing off their institute of higher ignorance, politically correct, factually challenged education and recognize the reality of human behavior.  It is really quite scientific, some men are breast men, and some are legmen, some like butts………

The Vice President Has a Reputation

You have aligned yourself with the pseudo intellectual progressive liberal demoracist.  You are growing increasingly uncomfortable thinking that the pseudo intellectual progressive liberal demoracist homies are moon bat crazy hell bent on destroying one of the greatest nations ever known to man.  I suggest you watch this Glenn Beck interview by Bill O’Reilly.

There is something seriously wrong with the pseudo intellectual progressive liberal demoracist Algore and his ilk.  The technical description is “moon bat crazy.”  Some of the symptoms of moon bat crazy:

  • Refusing to develop American petroleum resources while sending millions to other nations to do the same.
  • Standing idly by while Cuba is drilling for oil in the Florida Straits with Russian and Chinese participation.
  • Throwing away billions of tax dollars on green energy projects.
  • Destroying the coal energy.
  • Refusal to control national debt of $16.5 trillion and rapidly climbing.
  • Refusing to discuss honestly the need for entitlement reform.
  • Sending arms and millions to Arab nations who hate us.
  • Trashing the Constitution as “out of date.”
  • Attempting to circumvent the Second Amendment.

There is much, much more too numerous to list.  The moon bat crazy pseudo intellectual progressive liberal demoracist and repugnicans (RINOs) are hell bent on taking the ship to the bottom.  Do not go down with a bunch of loony moon bats, jump ship.  It is never too late to confess, “Hey I was born in a great country and there was no need for drastic change at the expense of the Constitution.”

The Vice President does have a reputation.  He is certainly one of the loony moon bat crazies of whom I speak

I Am Dirty Harry and I Am the Law

reidfinger

I do not care if adopting a budget is not optional under the 1974 Congressional Budget Act. Just because some crummy law mandates that the Senate moves a budget out of the Budget Committee by April 1 of every year and adopts a budget resolution on the floor by April 15 does not mean I am going to abide by it. I am Senator Harry Reid and I am above the law. I select which laws I will obey. We have not followed this crummy law since 2009. What of it? Go screw yourself America!

Compare Scofflaw Dirty Harry to David Olofson a decorated veteran and former Sergeant in the Army National Guard.  He is no longer in the National Guard because of a felony conviction for illegally transferring an unregistered machinegun.  Reading his story is enough to cause nightmares.  Big government will grind us all up, if left unchecked to bully, intimidate, and make citizens felons for trivial, meaningless reasons.

Obviously big government and its bureaucrats are a very officious lot.  Why doesn’t “the law” go after Scofflaw Dirty Harry?  Why?  Because their hearts are pure, their cause is just and they are much smarter than the little people are.  If we are going to keep voting for these people, we might as well start lining up now to turn in our guns, rights and dignity.

The Republicans’ Golden Opportunity

President George H.W. Bush nominated Senator John Tower in 1989 to be his Secretary of Defense. Despite his status as a former twenty-four year member of the Senate club his nomination was rejected 53-47. The reasons given were concerns about his personal life especially womanizing and alcohol abuse.

Now we have Senator John Kerry coming forward as the probable choice of President Obama to be Secretary of State. I cannot recall any allegations of womanizing or drunkenness being levied against the Senator. He is best known for being a friend of Hanoi, enemy of the Armed Forces and a violator of the Logan Act. I do not propose that these are disqualifying factors for nomination to be the next Secretary of State.

Very simply his nomination should be blocked to show the demoracists that 1989 has not been forgotten. The demoracists need to understand that when republicans put their mind to it they can be as petty and vindictive as are the demoracists

The pseudo-intellectual progressive liberals never seemed to have a problem with Senator Ted Kennedy’s (the Chappaquiddick swimmer) epic womanizing and drinking lifestyle. The former First Prevaricator, William Jefferson Clinton, was way too busy womanizing to drink. His right to immorality in his private life was vociferously defended by his pseudo-intellectual progressive liberal apologists. If Tower was “guilty” as charged, he was certainly judged by a double standard.

The ultimate option for blocking Senator Kerry’s appointment will be the filibuster. Use it against Kerry and continue it against any Senate legislation that is anything other than necessary legislation to pass a budget as required by law. The Senate has not passed a budget bill since April 29, 2009. The scofflaw Harry Reid absolutely refuses to follow the law.

One thousand plus days since a Senate budget and our economy is in a shambles, we have additional $4.1 trillion in deficits, looming huge cuts to the military and there is a threat in the coming year to tax the middle class to unprecedented levels. Middle class, do you really believe that raising taxes on the one percent (new talking point is two percent) is going to get us out of our economic morass? This is delusional thinking at its worse. The middle class being stripped of their wealth on their way to poverty will not solve the problem. When they finally collapse the economy, we will achieve the socialist progressive liberals dream of a classless, poor population all equal in a shared misery.

The republican establishment also needs to get in touch with their inner Tea Party and not go along with the demoracists scheme for massive tax increases. This will discredit and sink the republican party. The republicans are all too willing to allow the lame stream to define them (and the Tea Party) rather than taking a strong, principled conservative stand. Principles have been sadly lacking in the party since the progressive liberals gained control of the party.

There are no compromises in Washington nor is there any collegiality between the demoracists and the republicans. These (compromise, collegiality) are code words for “sucker punch.” You do see it coming don’t you? Take advantage and take the lead.

Duty, Honor, Country

Duty, Honor, Country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. –General of the Army Douglas MacArthur, Sylvanus Thayer Award Acceptance Address

I cannot help but wonder what the old General would say about the events of Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the U.S. Military Academy’s Cadet Chapel, West Point, N.Y.  Brenda Sue Fulton, a West Point graduate, former Captain, “married” her partner of seventeen years Penelope Gnesin.

The happy couple would have preferred marriage in New Jersey, but same sex marriages are not legal there.  Since same sex marriages are legal in New York why not go to the landmark gothic “new” Cadet Chapel at West Point?  The brides must have been thrilled with the military trappings of the ceremony including the traditional saber arch.

The Old Cadet Chapel was already the scene of another same sex “marriage” the previous weekend.  That leaves five Chapels to go at West Point to host a gay marriage.  There is no doubt in my mind that there is intent afoot to have a gay marriage in every chapel.

Two things about the story attract my attention:

First was the statement of Brenda Sue Fulton that “It [Cadet Chapel] has a tremendous history, and it is beautiful. That’s where I first heard and said the cadet prayer, ‘Make us to choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong, and never to be content with a half-truth when the whole can be won.’”  Parse that if you please.

Second was West Point hosted the Grand Opening Conference for West Point’s Center for the Rule of Law Grand Opening Conference held Wednesday, April 15, 2009.  That noted upholder of the rule of law, Attorney General Eric Holder, memorably shared with his audience “It is a remarkable fact that nowhere is the rule of law more honored than here in the hallowed halls of West Point, the premier training ground for our nation’s warriors.”

Curiously, the marriage ceremony was a clear violation of the Defense of Marriage Act, which of course is a Federal Law that Attorney General Eric Holder refuses to defend despite being his legal obligation.  The meaning of the rule of law is oh so very confusing.  What is the meaning of it all?

I wonder what the cadets are taking away from the panoply of interpretive examples of the rule of law by their Superintendent, Eric Holder and their commander-in-chief?  Are they sitting there giving each other the old wink, wink, nudge, nudge in their Constitutional law class?

The Religion of Peace This Week in the News

Terry Jones, Florida pastor who  burned the Koran, among those sentenced to death by Egyptian court

The decision by the  high court is largely seen as symbolic since Jones doesn’t live in Egypt and  neither do the seven Egyptian Coptic Christians also tried in absentia. Some of  them are linked to the controversial film that sparked deadly riots across the  Muslim world in September.

Anti-Shiite violence rises in Pakistan as Islam’s sectarian divide moves beyond the Middle East

KARACHI —          More members of Pakistan’s Shiite Muslim religious minority were killed by Sunni Muslim extremists this year than in any previous year, a development that could further destabilize this key U.S. ally and draw it into the widening Shiite-Sunni conflict that up to now has been manifest primarily in Middle Eastern countries.

Pakistani Taliban call girl’s shooting ‘obligatory,’ saying she spread secular ideas

ISLAMABAD —         Doctors treating a 14-year-old girl shot in the head by Islamist militants because she dared to advocate schooling for girls said Wednesday that they hoped she would make a full recovery from her wounds after nightlong surgery to remove the bullet.

Honour killings put UPA govt in a spot

Faced with public outrage over the alleged honour killing of a 29-year-old Muslim  in Uttar Pradesh, the Centre on Tuesday said it was serious about tackling the menace. However, its efforts so far seem to have failed to convince nearly half the states in the country. “We have asked for a report from the state governments. This is something we have taken very seriously,” minister of state for home RPN Singh said.

He said the government is “very seriously trying” to amend the constitution to deal with growing incidents of honour killings across the country.

Easy to Understand This One

“One man with a gun can control 100 without one. ” –Vladimir Lenin

Care to speculate why the pseudo-intellectual progressive liberal mindless twits set see gun control as an end all cure all for everything that they believe wrong in this country today? Diane Feinstein again wants to ban assault rifles, high capacity magazines & pistol grips.

Read more: Feinstein Looks To Push Ban On Assault Rifles, High Capacity Magazines & Pistol Grips  They can regulate the size of your soda waters, promote ridiculous school lunch menus and other minor assaults on personal freedoms without barely a whimper from the objects of their derision. Try to control guns, parental rights, religious freedom and other such serious freedoms they know will have citizens looking for their Winchesters. They know they simply cannot control us, make us live in a way that we do not want without a force of arms.

If they take away our guns to control us who will be behind the guns of the state? Who will the state call to arms to use the guns of the state to intimidate, bully and, if necessary kill disgruntled citizens? You can be assured it will not be the faithful sitting in church or synagogue that actually follow the Ten Commandments. The state will have to put sociopaths and criminals behind those guns. Who else would be willing to slay their fellow citizens in the name of the state to maintain a socialist state?  The UN?

Can You Believe There is a Problem Here

This table below is from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention

•Men:

Waist circumference (inches): 39.7

•Women:

It seems that the United States Marine Corps has a serious personnel problem. The USMC longs to enhance their combat power by adding female infantry officers to the mix. They managed to scrape up two female volunteers out of a grand total of 80 female officers considered qualified for Marine Corps Infantry Officer Course to start training.

Read the article Few female Marines step forward for infantry

The article did not say as much but I suspect that tests including lifting a 72-pound machine gun above their heads while wearing a 71-pound rucksack, marching 12 miles in less than five hours carrying a 71-pound rucksack and evacuating a mock casualty weighing about 200 pounds may have play a wee small role in the matter of both women dropping out of training.

Skip to the end where Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James F. Amos is quoted as saying his fact based research will allow him to say, ““I’ll be able to look Congress, secretary of defense, secretary of the Navy in the eye and say, ‘Sir, this is my recommendation when we’re all through.’”

Yes, General, and the geniuses on Capitol Hill are going to look you in the eye and tell you to keep changing the standards until women are equal and qualified. That is what has been going on for the past several decades anyway.

Fascinating Piece from Pravda

The teaser got my attention.  It was “PRAVDA: Obama re-elected by illiterate society.”  Everyone has their opinion about the demographics of the election and this is certainly one of them.  The author’s name is Xavier Lerma.  Pravda published his essay, but I chose to link Obama’s Soviet Mistake to Mr. Lerma’s Blog.  I love the picture there of Hussein and Soros.  I do not believe those big grins mean well for any of us.

There are numerous points in the opinion piece ripe for further argument and discussion.  He says that he speaks American English and Russian.  He lives in Moscow.  His perspective is as a conservative Christian.  I want to find out more about this man.

What do you think about the article?
